Relevant points:

18.2 Over-height ponies may be bred from and their progeny registered, provided the over-height pony does not continue to be shown as a registered Fell pony.
Full details

6. Section (X) - contains ponies that have registered and licensed sires and registered dams but are of a colour other than black, brown, bay or grey and /or have an excess of white markings.

Progeny of ponies in Section 3 (X) may be registered in the main section provided they conform to the breed standard and have registered and licensed sires and registered dams. NB Fillies may be bred from but Section X Colts are not eligible for an FPS Stallion license.
Full details

FIS status - When you are purchasing a Fell Pony or enquiring about a stallion for stud purposes, and if it is important to you to know what the FIS status is of the animal, ask the owner. If the pony has been FIS tested, the laboratory who carried out the test will have issued a certificate, so ask to see it.

FIS test results are sometimes recorded in the passport at the request of the owner. This is the only case in which the FPS will have seen the certificate.

If you have any doubts about the authenticity of a certificate then please share a copy with the FPS office who will check it out for you.

Please note that there are very few licensed stallions that are not FIS tested.

3: Five Years and Over.

Black Mare f2019, 13. HH.
Price: £4500.00.

black mare and riderblack mare wearing a set of driving harnesstwo lady riders on black fell ponies

Wonderful mare for sale. Just come back from 4 weeks with Anna Metcalfe who said "she's a lovely pony and good fun". Anna backed and hacked her out on country lanes and did lunging, long reining and tiny bit of schooling. Anna happy to talk to anyone who is interested in buying Katy and wants to know more. Until Anna's, Katy has lived full time outside since I got her at 6 months from the auction where she was placed 2nd in show.  She was fine being stabled except she banged the door a bit and escaped once (but then just stood in yard!) Think she prefers outdoor living!

Needs more bringing on so not a novice ride yet but good potential for the future with the right person. Got a 'not bothered by much' personality. The photo of her with driving harness on was first time she'd ever had tack on and she didn't bat an eyelid! Good to catch and boxed great when coming back from Anna's (only third time into a box) Good with farrier although I do give her carrots whilst he's working so not sure how she would be without!

Did a lot  of country lane road work on lead rein when younger. Did well with tractors, quads, diggers, milk wagons etc but never been on main roads.

She is a carrier for the foal immunodeficiency syndrome.

Only selling as I know she's destined for more than doing nothing except eating grass with me! I'm too busy and inexperienced to give her more. Hoping for a loving, kind and wonderful home and would love to be able to hear about her progress every now and again.

Newburghhill Blackberry FP5333, S: Urwins Prince II (FP70707C*), D: Greenholme Black Bird (FP3819)

Black Mare, 2010, 13hh/13.1hh
Price will be reflective of education (low to mid four figures)

black pony grazing in a fieldblack pony wearing riding tack, saddle and bridleblack pony looking over a gate

“Bree” is a 14 year old Fell mare. We have owned her since she was 8 weeks old (bought as a foal at foot.) She has been a great broodmare to a few foals for us and is now taking to being backed. She is a very people friendly mare who thrives in human company. She is not your classically ‘pretty pony’ but is always eager to please, desperate to be someone’s best friend and will be a great asset to anyone willing to put some time into her. I am in no rush to sell her and a five star home is most important. (willingness to keep in-touch is great bonus!)
Her price will be reflective of her education – as I am continuing to bring her on.

Price - £4800.

We are looking for a 5* home for Raven with someone who would be able to take her on to her full potential, possibly in the show ring, as she is a really stunning pony with excellent breeding.

She is very sensitive, kind and gentle and needs quiet, knowledgeable handling and a competent experienced rider so she is not suitable for a novice. She has been brought on slowly over the past 2 years with long reining, walking in hand, lunging and introduced to brollies, flags and plastic bags. She is currently ridden out mainly on her own and is brilliant on bridleways, going through water and meeting cyclists, walkers with dogs and young children. Good in light traffic on the roads but very nervous with large vehicles such as tractors. She has excellent manners, easy to catch, a pleasure to groom and good with the farrier (currently unshod) and the vet. She is Microchipped and is up to date with all vaccinations, dental work and worming. Due to personal circumstances we feel the time is right for Raven to move on to a new home where she will be able to widen her experience and boost her confidence.

Wellbrow Half Pint FP72391C* Lic No FP878, Sire: Wellbrow Rover FP70669C*, Dam:  Wellbrow Nora FP3839

Black Stallion, Year of Birth* 2014

£2,500

black pony in a fieldblack pony, head and shoulders, looking at camerablack pony in a field

Exceptionally nice stallion, for sale as we are keeping some of his fillies and don’t have the room to run separate herds.

Half Pint is all you could wish for in a stallion, good-looking, prolific, fertile, and with a super temperament. He courts his mares and is great with his foals. He is affectionate and gentle to handle, a real pleasure to have around.

Half Pint has produced excellent foals for us. His foals take after their mothers’ height and are taller than him. He ran with mares out on the fells for his breeder, and since then has been working here on our smallholding with four mares, taking both situations in his stride. He would be an asset to any breeding programme, particularly for breeders who require an uncomplicated and manageable pony. Youngstock can be seen.

Price     £6000 ono

bay pony in a field bay pony, saddled, in a building bay pony

Extremely heartbreaking sale of my beautiful fell pony ‘Bandy’ due to my own personal circumstances. I’ve owned Bandy since he was 6 years old and I bought him directly from his breeder. I’m looking for the right home for this very special boy. He is forward going and therefore not a novice ride, he has lots of sass/character and needs a confident and competent rider. He loves hacking (he’s not confident with heavy traffic), he’s done fun rides, XC, dressage, clinics and lots of showing with many wins and champions
He’s great to shoe, groom, clip, vet etc.
He loads well enough but is a little anxious whilst travelling, he’s better with a friend on board or I usually give him a herbal type calmer. He has done plenty of travelling with me but I can’t say it's his favourite thing. He’s a very lovable pony however needs a firm but kind handler.  I want the absolute best for him so please no time wasters as this is a very difficult sale. He has a full wardrobe of rugs, a new black country classic saddle and a made to measure ‘native pony bridles’ bridle and bomber snaffle – all available by separate negotiation.

Friendly five year old mare, unbroken and ready to start her education, keen to please. Forced sale due to lack of time with a new job. Exceptionally well bred by 3x FPS Champion Stallion. Has been handled regularly and had feet trimmed, she has wintered out both inside and outside. This winter has been stabled overnight due to the land condition (we are currently living in a swamp!). Both are well handled and both had numerous quality foals by our coloured stallion which sold well, and have foaled two colt foals by champion fell stallions. Summer of 2023 they didn’t run with a stallion. Fit and ready for 2024 breeding season   Open to reasonable offers.

5: Wanted Ads, and Other Fell-related items for sale.

Looking for a Fell pony

Looking for a Fell pony for our eldest daughter who has cerebral palsy & is visually impaired. She is independent looking after her current Shetland and sometimes on the lead rein, sometimes off depending on situation (pony-dependent as he takes advantage). On more forgiving ponies she can walk and trot off the lead rein and trot a cross pole. Regularly attends pony club rallies and camps, has lessons at school and loves hacking around lanes and orchards. The pony would potentially be at school during term time.
Very specific requirements
1) Have impeccable ground manners and allow an 8 year old with a weak left side/poor vision and balance to tack up lead, pick feet out etc.
2) Be as 100% bomb proof on the flat as a pony can be and not get upset or take advantage when she gets unbalanced/cant use left aids as much as right. Which leads us on to -
3) Must take my weight. To ensure pony doesn’t get a bad back etc from our daughters unbalance I must be able to ride to ‘straighten’ check pony ok and get physio as required like we do with current pony.
4) Must cope with the Elms School/a riding school type environment. I won’t let pony be ridden by others at school but can’t have major medical issues and cope with a busy yard with kids
5) Only needs ability to basically walk trot and canter with our daughter’s aids (I can help pony with this) but can’t be completely dead to leg
6) Our daughter wants to be a para dressage rider in the future so only needs to trot over jumps presented at a mini camp for her to have fun with her pals at pony club. This does not need to be a para dressage pony, this pony will be her best friend to love, have fun on and allow us to sneak in pony orientated physio and occupational therapy at school and at home.
Age doesn’t matter either way for the right pony.
Mare or gelding.
Height around 13.2 but again not fussed as long as enough pony to take around 9.5 stone
Absolutely NO buckers, rearers, bolters - obvious but thought I should be explicit
If inexperienced/a little green in the school will send away for professional schooling but MUST have right temperament and this must be reflected in the price
Knowledgable, experienced, lifelong loving home awaits with a realistic budget to accommodate such a wonderful pony
If you know of any suitable Fell unicorns please email jessica.e.powell@me.com  or WhatsApp / call 07739175119. Email / WhatsApp preferred as I work shifts. Thank you.  3 April 2024
