26 August 2001
At the Council Meeting on 14th August 2001 the Council agreed that as from 1st January 2002 all Overseas Memberships would be raised to £25.00 per annum. This increase is due to the Society being steadily out of pocket with postage and packing of various items (incl the Newsletter) to Overseas Members.
All Overseas Members are asked to pay the full amount of any transaction in £'s sterling to the Society before anything is processed. Any transaction not in £'s sterling would have a £5 surcharge levied to cover the cost of processing through the Society's Bank.
Electronic Transfer from Overseas - approx £2.00 charge to be borne by the member, not the Society.
The Society is now being charged for Eurocheques and other forms of payment and is therefore losing money on each transaction.
The Society's Bank has suggested payment by Banker's Draft or International Money Order from Overseas Members as the preferred method of payment. However, this is up to each individual member as to how they wish to pay.
Re: Pay Pal
After a lengthy discussion Council decided not to adopt the use of Pay Pal as a
payment method for the time being as there are only 15 Members in America. Pay
Pal could not guarantee our the Society's Bank as being an approved bank
according to their rules. However, this payment method will be reviewed at
regular intervals as no doubt their rules will be up dated from time to time.
