Fell Pony Society Trotting Events

In 2006 we held two Trotting Events, one at Tebay Show and one at Crosby Ravensworth Show. They commenced once the showing classes had finished. At Tebay the Show Committee kindly set up a fantastic track around the perimeter of the show field, which was exactly half a mile. The ponies went round twice to make a mile.

We had enough entries for a junior race and a senior race, many people stayed to spectate and all of the competitors commented on how much they enjoyed themselves!

Christine Robinson and Juliet Coates battle it out at Tebay Show!

At Crosby Ravensworth the track was formed inside the rings, with all of the rope in the middle separating each of the showing rings taken down. Here the ponies had to trot round four times to make a mile, (the veteran ponies only went round twice!). We had enough entries here to have a junior race, a senior race and a race for veteran ponies.

Smiles All Round! The Junior Trotting Race Line Up at Crosby Ravensworth, with Mrs Savage presenting the trophy to the Junior Champion.

Mrs Savage presented the Redhouse Mac trophy, which she has kindly donated to the Junior Champion. This is the best Junior pony and rider combination from the two shows. This was Jessica Woolley riding Bracklinn Red Lady.

We would like to thank all of the people who sponsored the races and sent in donations. Also we would like to thank all of the willing helpers who acted as stewards and helped to lie out the tracks. Without these people it would not be possible to hold the Events.  Also thank you to our Chairman, Mary Longsdon for donating such beautiful rosettes to the prizewinners. If anybody would like to send in a donation to help towards the costs please contact myself, any contribution is gratefully received.

For 2007 we are hoping to be holding the Events at Tebay and Crosby Ravensworth again, and at the time of writing we are looking into two other venues. Please contact me for schedules and more information.
